Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Freedom

Do you remember the lie that Aaron, the brother of Moses, told when Moses asked him why he made the People worship the golden calf?
Ex 32:24 “And I said to them, ‘Whoever has any gold, let them break [it] off.’ So they gave [it] to me, and I cast it into the fire, and this calf came out.”
You see he makes the calf out to be some kind of “holy cow” because he just threw the gold into the fire and out came this calf. The Israelites committed gross sins, as they worshiped this image like the Egyptians who had enslaved them. This was just the beginnings of what they would do to anger the Lord. They fornicated with the Canaanite women at Baal Peor and 25,000 of them died in their sin. You can read all the rest of their wanderings away from the commands of God in Ps 106, 1Cor.10: 1-12. They deserved the wrath of God, but when they were afflicted they called out to God.
Ps 106:44 Nevertheless He regarded their affliction, When He heard their cry; 45 And for their sake He remembered His covenant, And relented according to the multitude of His mercies.
The children of Israel tried to mix what God wants and the ways of the world in which they lived. The two didn’t mix then and they certainly don’t mix now. They had lusted after the things of the world and Paul put it this way:
1Co 10:6 ¶ Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted.
Boy, does this apply to our generation today. With so many different opinions it is hard to figure out what is meant by the term lust.
Lust is seeking after things that are bad or evil. The confusing thing about living in this generation is trying to determine what is good and what is evil. We live in an age when they call what is good in God’s eyes, evil and what God calls evil, good.
Isa 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
The good news for this age is that we have a definitive solution to sorting out what is Good and what is Evil. It is called the Holy Bible. I like that we call it holy, because holy has a meaning of being separated from evil to Good. The Bible has in it God’s holy advice on how to live life not just for an individual, but also for a whole society. It shows us how we can become separated from the confusion of the evil and find the wholly satisfying truth of the good.
There is only one Holy Bible that mankind can find the truth that there is no other way to the Father and heaven but Jesus!!! Those are absolute truths that people who have been compromised by the philosophies, sciences, and opinions of man, have a hard time grasping. I understand the frustration of thinking that Jesus is the only way to heaven and that all others are destined to eternal separation from God. It makes me very sad to think of all those who have died without knowing Jesus. Really it makes me want to do all that I can to tell them now while they still have a chance. I know how hard that is to reconcile within the framework of our current world culture of tolerance and global acceptance which can be summed up in a quasi motto ‘live and let live.’
When everyone views and accepts every other religion as equal, it creates an atmosphere of such tolerance that no one group can state what it believes to be true without feeling ostracized. Those who press through being detested and stand for absolute truth find a freedom of faith. No longer motivated by the masses, but driven by divine truth. Free to stand and say what God says is Good and what God says is Evil. Liberated from the dictates of the prevailing humanistic philosophy, the truly free will find the beauty of living in His holiness. Not that we should flaunt our liberty and knowledge of the truth by offending those around us, but by truly loving them enough to share.
1Co 10:32 Give no offense, either to the Jews or to the Greeks or to the church of God, 33 just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.
How did Paul do this? 1Co 1:17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect. 18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
Dare to share the truth with someone you love.
Have a Great Day!
